Ministry of Digital Economy Launches Second Round of ‘On-the-Job Training Program’ to Qualify 562 Youth with Digital Skills

In a significant move to enhance the readiness of Jordan’s digital workforce, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship signed the second round of grant agreements for the ‘On-the-Job Training program’ on Thursday. The agreements were signed with nine local companies as part of the Youth, Technology, and Jobs program, which is implemented by the Digital Skills Association (Digiskills) with support from the Ministry.

Now in its second phase, the program aims to train 562 young Jordanian professionals by providing training grants that enable them to acquire advanced practical digital skills. These skills are aligned with the evolving demands of the digital labor market and support participating companies in strengthening their capabilities in digital transformation and technological innovation.

Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, His Excellency Engineer Sami Samirat, emphasized during the signing ceremony that the workplace training initiative is a core component of the Ministry’s broader strategy to build an inclusive and sustainable digital economy. He noted that empowering Jordanian youth with skills tailored to the region’s accelerating digital transformation is essential to this vision.

The Minister added that investing in human capital remains the most impactful and enduring form of development. He highlighted that the private sector’s engagement in practical training programs plays a vital role in boosting competitiveness and economic growth. Jordan, he stated, is steadily establishing itself as a regional hub for digital talent and expertise.

His Excellency Samirat encouraged companies to continue investing in talent development and urged participating youth to make the most of this opportunity to enhance their skills and expand their professional prospects. He also assured international partners that investing in Jordanian talent is an investment in the region’s digital future and a gateway to leading the transformation toward a modern knowledge economy.

The On-the-Job Training program is one of the Ministry’s flagship initiatives. It is designed to equip youth with hands-on skills that meet the demands of the digital economy and foster a dynamic environment for leadership and innovation. The program contributes to the creation of quality employment opportunities and supports the country’s sustainable development goals.
