Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Signs Agreement to Update ICT Sector Supply and Demand Gap Analysis Study

The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MoDEE), in collaboration with DigiSkills through the Youth, Technology, and Jobs Project, has signed a partnership agreement with Better Business and the Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (Int@j) to update the Supply and Demand Gap Analysis Study for the ICT sector in Jordan. The signing ceremony took place at ‘The Platform’ in Marka.

The study aims to assess the alignment between the skills acquired by university and technical institute graduates and the evolving needs of the local job market. Its primary goal is to enhance Jordanian youth’s employability while fostering economic growth by identifying skill gaps and developing strategic solutions.
This agreement is part of MoDEE’s ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors and drive innovation in Jordan’s digital economy. By analyzing current and future labor market demands, the study will contribute to increasing employment opportunities and establishing advanced training frameworks that meet global industry standards.
Targeting key stakeholders in the ICT sector; including startups, investors, policymakers, and academic institutions—the study will also encourage young Jordanian professionals to develop digital skills that align with market needs.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Eng. Sami Smeirat, highlighted the importance of the initiative, emphasizing the Ministry’s commitment to fostering the growth of Jordan’s technology and telecom sectors. He stressed that aligning education with market demands will empower Jordanian youth to capitalize on opportunities in the digital economy. He also underscored the critical role of public-private partnerships in realizing the Kingdom’s digital transformation vision.

Dr. Alaa Ensheiwat, Chairman of DigiSkills, reaffirmed the significance of the agreement, noting that it reflects DigiSkills’ commitment to bridging the gap between education and the labor market. He described the study as a key step toward identifying challenges and proposing data-driven, practical solutions to prepare Jordan’s workforce for the digital economy.
From his side, Int@j Chairman, Mr. Eid Amjad Swais, described the agreement as a pivotal step in strengthening Jordan’s ICT sector. He emphasized that the partnership will equip graduates with market-relevant skills, reinforcing Jordan’s position as a leader in digital expertise and workforce development.

Dr. Suhail Jouaneh, CEO of Better Business, expressed his pride in the collaboration, noting that the study will provide precise data to develop practical strategies that enhance employment prospects and economic growth. He emphasized that this initiative is a crucial step toward creating an agile, future-ready workforce for Jordan’s digital sector.
As part of Jordan’s broader digital transformation strategy, the study is set to commence in the coming month. It will be followed by a series of actionable steps to implement its recommendations, engage relevant stakeholders, and drive meaningful progress toward a more competitive and dynamic digital economy.
