Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Signs On-the-job Training Grant Agreements to Support Companies and Develop Digital Skills

On Sunday, the Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Engineer Sami Smeirat, signed on-the-job training grant agreements with several beneficiary companies. This initiative is part of the Youth, Technology, and Jobs project, which aims to develop the digital skills of Jordanians and enhance their readiness for the workforce.
The program offers an immediate solution to help companies train new employees or upskill existing ones. It is designed to support employers in building the digital competencies needed to keep pace with digital transformation and meet the demands of a rapidly evolving market.

The Digital Skills Association manages and oversees the implementation of all digital skills development programs for employment, including on-the-. This is carried out through a structured process that begins with designing training programs, receiving grant applications from companies, reviewing, and assessing the applications, and selecting the most suitable program for each company. Digiskills also supervises implementation to ensure participating companies meet the required criteria and grant conditions.
Currently, 669 Jordanian youth and professionals are enrolled in the program and will receive specialized training aligned with market needs. Twelve companies have been selected in the first batch of grant recipients, offering them an opportunity to invest in upskilling their workforce and improving digital efficiency.

During the signing ceremony, Engineer Smeirat reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the private sector through initiatives that develop digital skills, enhance employment opportunities, and create job openings for Jordanian youth. He emphasized the importance of this program in bridging the digital skills gap, boosting the competitiveness of Jordanian companies, and positioning Jordan as a regional hub for exceptional digital talent.

Smeirat noted that these agreements represent a first step in a series of future disbursements to beneficiary companies. The grant will remain available to encourage more institutions to benefit from this support and enhance their workforce capabilities.
The Minister also addressed the private sector, urging companies to continue investing in human capital development. He encouraged the program’s young beneficiaries to make the most of this opportunity to strengthen their skills and improve their competitiveness in the job market.

He noted that the on-the-job training program is one of the Ministry’s strategic initiatives aimed at growing the technology sector and fostering an entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Kingdom. The goal is to empower youth with technical skills that open new opportunities in the digital workforce.
